World Mental Health Day

Today World Mental Health day. Studies have even found that healthy diets can help with symptoms of depression and anxiety. Unhealthy diets have been linked to increased risk of mood disorders.

There is a great connection between our brain and gastrointestinal tract often called the second brain 🧠

Gastrointestinal tract is home to billions of bacteria that influence the production of neurotransmitters, chemical substances that constantly carry messages from the gut to the brain. (Dopamine and serotonin are two common examples.)

Eating healthy food or real foods promotes the growth of “good” bacteria 🧫 , which in turn positively affects neurotransmitter production. 👉🏼A steady diet of junk food or use of antibiotics or unnecessary use of analgesics on the other hand, can affect the quality of intestinal flora. When neurotransmitter production is in good shape, your brain receives these positive messages loud and clear, and your emotions reflect it. But when production goes awry, so might your mood.

Some studies have shown that 👉🏼food preservatives, dyes, or other chemicals in the packet foods may cause or worsen the hyperactivity and depression👈🏼

So to prevent or manage the mental disorders, anxiety, depression you have to 👉🏼eat real foods, including whole foods, Fiber rich foods, vegetables, food rich in omega 3 fatty acids like fish, seeds, nuts. Antioxidants rich foods like fruits and vegetables

Vitamin D also known as brain hormone, which helps the production of seratonin. We usually get Vitamin D with sunlight. Other sources are fish and mushrooms.

Also include food rich in folate and magnesium. Add dark chocolates, almonds and other nuts, dark leafy vegetables and beans

Strictly Avoid processed foods and foods that contain highly refined carbohydrates and high fructose corn syrups, chemicals, additives and artificial colours.

It is difficult to ask a person to live without anxiety and depression especially during this period. Lot of person manage their mental disorders with medication and in long run it will lead to other complications. Our body has the natural ability to deal these anxiety and depression.
